One of the reasons that I started my newsletter was because I was feeling spread thin with all of the new platforms popping up here, there and everywhere. I was craving longer form conversation, and a way to connect with all of you that felt authentic to me (aka - not in short form video dances on TikTok). Over the last year, I’ve shifted from focusing on IG to building out my website as a central hub for everything I’m working on - the Podcast, One Wednesday, and my personal brand. I want to be able to dive into topics that are interesting to me (and hopefully you). The newsletter is something that I’m super passionate about as I’m always tinkering with my life - reading a new book, watching a new series, reading about new trends and trying to incorporate them into my own style…which is why this newsletter is called “What I’m Loving Lately.” Each week, I’m going to bring you:
What I’m watching, reading and listening to
What’s inspiring me
What’s in my cart
What I’m cooking
and of course
What I’m loving lately
I’ll also share my latest journal posts and my latest podcast episodes.
The switch to Substack means only one thing: it will be a little easier for this newsletter to grow, and allows me to bring you all more of what you’re loving (lately). I hope you’ll join me!
Without further adieu, my first what I’m loving lately - substack edition.
What I’m watching, reading and listening to
Watching: Lessons in Chemistry -- although my friend just told me the book was way better - wish I read it first!
Reading: I’m really loving Sahil Bloom’s newsletter. It takes thoughtful business topics and helps you understand how to apply them to your everyday life. It has also given me a lot of ideas for how to streamline my own work life.
Listening To: a friend recommended this podcast episode on how to 10x your life and I immediately started referencing it for ways in which I think about growing One Wednesday. The net net: 80% of what you’re doing is only slowly moving the needle forward - what is the 20% that will allow you to leap forward to 10x rather than 2x your life?
What’s inspiring me
I’m really loving meeting people in person right now. My cofounder and I have started working together every Wednesday and I have decided to focus almost exclusively on in-person podcast conversations. I find the energy you glean from people in person to be exponentially more powerful than when you are alone and either on the phone or on the computer. While I still love my WFH days to power through projects and tasks, there really is something so special about sitting down, looking in a person’s eyes and hearing their perspective. Immediate increase in empathy and understanding!
What’s in my cart
I’m re-stocking all of my Arrae faves with their ambassador sale. You can use my code COLLINS20 for a special discount until Tuesday! Currently in my cart: Calm (I already receive it monthly), Sleep and Bloat which I use regularly and I’ve been dying to dry Le Depuff
These sneakers that you all love and my husband hates — also love this colorway.
This brand can do no wrong with bags. Specifically loving this green beauty. I’d pair it with denim and this flirty blouse.
Next on my bag wishlist: this black everyday small tote. Also love this brand for classic, well-made and more reasonably priced bags.
What I’m cooking
My easy chili recipe! I’ve shared variations of this over the years but it’s so simple and my fave.
Sauté one pound of ground beef with a little olive oil.
Add half a chopped onion, 3 chopped garlic cloves and 2-3 chopped green peppers.
Season with salt and pepper.
Add 1-2 cups of bone broth and 1 jar of Rao’s (or similar) tomato sauce.
Add 1 can of kidney beans.
Simmer for 20ish minutes. Enjoy topped with avocado and Greek yogurt.
What I’m loving lately
I shared this on IG and got a lot of questions, but I’ve been loving at home skin treatments lately for softening fine lines and increasing glow. A few tricks I have up my sleeve: this red light mask (code is SOPHIE15), this clarifying mask for breakouts, this mask for tightening pores and enhancing circulation, and this cooling mask for redness and enhancing glow
Our new bath mat colors (Olive Grey is on my list)
Diffusing lavender oil before bedtime to wind down the whole house - my favorite diffuser is this one
